Huh, I am reminded of how little I watch ESPN anymore. I gave up on their daytime lineup years ago and about the only thing I watch somewhat regularly is the late night SportsCenter. Sportscenter with SVP is quite literally the only regular program of theirs I actually like.

As for Peyton Manning, I guess it's only a matter of time before he gets a TV analyst gig, most likely for Monday Night Football.

^ If it wasn't for SportsCenter with SVP I wouldn't watch much ESPN. Late night SportsCenter isn't bad either as you mentioned. As for Peyton's show I saw clips on ESPN and it is quite funny. I would like to see him on MNFl cuz Booger needs to go. Unfortunately Peyton's show is on ESPN Plus...which you have to pay for.

Nick Buoniconti, the driving force of the Dolphins’ famed “No-Name Defense,” passed away yesterday at the age of 78.

File this under bizzare injury. Apparently Antonio Brown's feet look so gross cuz he got frostbite from a cryogenic chamber. I'm sure Jon Gruden is thrilled. Somehow this would only happne in the land of misfits...5-11 on tap for Oakland this season.

Even more bizarre news from Raider land...Antonio Brown is threating to retire cuz he can't wear his ten year old helmet since it is banned now due to being unsafe. He has filed a grievance against the NFL. This guy is a total wack job and he will only hurt the Raiders not help them.

Breaking News...Dak Prescott is being evaluated for CTE. Prescott turned down $30 million per season and wants $40 million Maybe if he was Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Joe Montana combined. If I was Jerry Jones I would say see you later Dak. I went through every team and I would take 18 QBs over Prescott.

He won't get $40 million per year, but Patrick Mahomes probably will in the next year or two. Dak rejecting $30 million has a lot to do with the fact Carson Wentz just signed that deal which will be giving him like $32 million each year. This is the new reality in the NFL-if you are a good QB and you can repeatedly get your team to the playoffs, you will get a new contract that gives you $30 million-plus per year. QB contracts will continue to rise with the salary cap. It'll be interesting to see which Dallas Cowboy (Dak, Zeke, Amari) gets his big payday first.

^ I agree with everything you said. Dak's agent is going to want more than Wentz got but like you said the Cowboys also have to pay Zeke and Cooper which as an Eagles fan is great cuz hopefully it will screw their cap up. I'll be shocked if Prescott even gets $35 million cuz Idt he is even a top 15 QB.

What seems like big QB money today, will seem pretty ordinary in a couple years. That's the way it always plays out. If you actually want a cheap QB, just play guys on their rookie contract. Trust you can find one every 4 years or so. Otherwise, it will be, "oh look how much we/they are paying that guy".

Back around the time of the NFL Draft, the "experts" were telling us what fools the Giants were for taking Daniel Jones with the 6th pick. However, Jones has been impressive since day one & perfect in his 1st preseason game. So, now the "experts" want to know how soon he can take over for Eli. Don't know if Jones will be any good, but neither do the folks who make a living talking about pro football.

^ The so called experts are dumb to praise Jones. Its practice and one pre season game against back ups and vanilla defense. No game planning at all and people are saying he should start Week 1...what a joke. Even Pat Shermer is an idiot for gloating to the media after the game last week.

That's all true. It's,also, true initially QBs earn the starting job based, in large part, on their preseason play. Just ask Carson Wentz. They didn't hand him the job because he flashed against South Dakota State.

^ True but remember Sam Badford was in front of him so Wentz didn't have much competition. Eli isn't very good at this stage of his career (well honestly he has been bad for years) but he is still better than Daniel Jones but nevertheless when the Giants are 3-8 or 3-10 Jones will be starting.

All QBs drafted high in the 1st round eventually become the starter. It's just a matter of when.Despite having a good season, Alex Smith was shipped out so Mahomes could start. It doesn't matter who currently holds the job. The better the rookie golden boy looks in the spring & training camp, the more confidence the team has to throw him in there sooner. If Wentz had looked like an Akili Smith in camp, Eagles wouldn't have run him out there so quickly. He did enough against vanilla preseason defenses to convince the coaches he could handle real games. Simple situation for El this year, team stays in contention & he's likely to keep his job. Team flounders, he's out.

On another note, did you see they are going to induct 20 people into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next year? Think 10 of those spots going to old time players. The reason the league gave is they thought there are many deserving candidates who haven't gotten in yet. Ponder that one the next time you think about who is or isn't going to get into the HOF. My most worthy modern candidate is Richard Seymour. Someone else I was chatting with came up with Isaac Bruce. That naturally leads to Terry Holt. Oh, throw those doors open & let them all in.

^ I certainly expect to see Daniel Jones at some point cuz the Giants are going to be one of the worst teams in the league.

As for the HOF, I did hear that and I am not thrilled. Like you said let's let them all in. The HOF are for the best players in the history of a sport and now anyone gets in. Richard Seymour was a great player, not a HOF player though. Issac Bruce is on the fence and no for Torry Holt.

Point of my 2nd paragraph was to highlight how differently your view of a HOF player is to the people who actually run the place. They say this 20 inductee class is a one time thing. But,I wouldn't be surprised to see the league return to on occasion to move more players into Canton. Hey, they might have to put a new wing on the building. Watching golf recently & Jim Nantz was pushing his old broadcast buddy Phil Simms for induction. Read an article pushing 2-time SB winner Jim Plunkett. Yup, the neighborhood is about to get a bit more crowded.
Seymour lacks HOF stats, but was primarily a 3-4 down lineman during his NE days. Hard to get stats in that thankless role. Bruce & Holt both have the numbers, but would expect Bruce would be in before his partner in crime.

^ I wouldn't have a problem with Holt or Bruce getting in but Seymour no way. If he doesn't have the stats then no regardless of his position. The HOF is a mockery these days. They put anymore in. It should be call the Hall of good to great players. Eli Manning will get in cuz of his two Super Bowls. Nick Foles might as well get in too. The players currently playing off the top of my head that are HOF worthy are Brady, Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, JJ Watt, if Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins continue to ball out they will be. My point is they are the best players at their positions but the way its done they put in lower tier players such as Jim Plunkett if he were to get in. Its amazing cuz during the Patriots run of success the have Ty Law in and Brady and those are there only HOF players. Gronk didn't play long enough and was hurt too much so that's why I would not put him in.
