Anyone else waiting for this? I mean, come on, just look at this assemblage of hotties:

Teri Hatcher Lois & Clark
Marcia Cross Melrose
Nicolette Sheridan Knots Landing
Felicity Huffman Sports Night, Frasier
[link inactive:404 - Page not found]Eva Longoria L.A. Dragnet

If the writing is even halfway decent, this could be one of the most fun shows in a while.

Can't wait for tomorrow for the pilot episode. I miss Teri Hatcher from Lois & Clark.

I can't wait either. I used to love Teri Hatcher's ass. She still looks good, but not what she was 10 years ago. I hope this series is good; it's been hyped so much that I can also see it flopping like many other overanticipated shows.

The title turns me off: It sounds so sexist, and cliched.

Though I don't know what it's all about, the name makes me totally not interested.

I watched the first episode tonight. It was quite fun, actually. Looking forward to the next episodes.

I saw a minute of it only because I spotted Terri Hatcher while channel surfing. I got all misty remembering how hot she used to be. But then Nicolette Sheridan appeared looking like Stiffler's mom and I ran screaming from the room.

Damn, didn't notice Eva Longoria, she's unbelievably beautiful. I'd watch her organize her sock drawer.

So.....
Was there anything strokable?

Could a determined whacker (who's good at capturing video snippets to his PC) assemble enough 10-30 second clips over time to compile a decent stroke DVD?

(I am such a fucking perv :)

For about the first ten minutes I thought it was a kind of noble failure, then it took a hard left deep into the bowels of sucktown. I don't see this putting up any competition with Arrested Development for my viewing time.

Sexiest and cliched?....... you do realize that you're posting in a smartbuydisc.ru that focuses on adult film don't you? I can think of about ten porn titles, of the top of my head, that are much more sexiest and demeaning than the title of this show.

I saw the pilot and the entire premise of the show is about how a group of upper-class housewives may look like they have it all together but underneath they each have their own secrets and lies. Almost a female American Beauty except not as well written.

Yes, but in exchange for putting up with sexist, cliched porn titles you get to see cocks and cunts and cum. Maybe if Desperate Housewives had some nice hardcore scenes, Lorrie might be more intrigued.

Me too, from reading her other posts I believe LorrieF is pretty easy going, level-headed and cool. I wonder why she takes offence to this title? LorrieF?

Actually, I was kind of hoping that with all this talk of demeaning porn titles, someone might see that and come up with an A2M/Felching series called "Hard Left Deep Into The Bowels of Sucktown."

She didn't say she was offended by the title, she said it was a turn-off. I don't think Lorrie chooses her words carelessly.

Okay here's my explanation:

Desperate Housewives is a mainstream TV show. If it was an adult X rated show, the title wouldn't turn me off. It's just that when a show with a title like that is on mainstream, they tend to portray females as these pathetic women--and it's shown as serious drama. But I haven't seen the show, so I could be wrong about what I think it is.

But in porn, even though they have titles like that, the women aren't portrayed as pathetic--both sexes are getting what they want. And of course adult films are not serious drama.

I suspect that the reason it did so well was because of all the hype that it received. This one is going to drop faster than George Bush's voter ratings after another debate with John Kerry.

The plot was for crap, at times bordering on absolutely comical it was that bad. Who in God's name found any of this even remotely believable. For example, the thought of Eva Longoria's character running home and cutting their grass in an evening gown was just blatantly insulting. Teri Hatcher setting fire to her neighbor's house was simply ridiculous, and the nosy neighbor was so annoying it was incomprehensible.

In addition, the killer was that the show had so few hot scenes I think I could have gotten off faster watching Martha Stewart reruns. I never thought I'd say this, but Teri Hatcher looked absolutely like crap. Aside from Eva Longoria's brief scene in bra and panties, nothing was even remotely erotic.

Hey, what about Boston Legal though? I thought it was awesome!

Yeah, it's silly, but I found myself entertained by it.
The characters and events aren't plausible, but they're not intended to be. I'll curious to see where it goes.

What did bother me, though, was looking at Marcia Cross.
She looked...plastic. Did they do some digital enhancement in order to reinforce the "perfection" aspect of her character?
Every time she was in closeup it struck me as odd.

I actually didn't catch the show, but my friend told me she absolutely loved it. It doesn't seem like my kinda thing, but I'm glad that ABC took a gamble and at least tried something different.

BTW, I've been seeing Teri Hatcher on the talk show circuit and she still looked smokin' hot to me. Was she just shot bad, or did the close-ups reveal the effects of age?

I saw the pilot and I really like it. I hope the rating continue to build from the good pilot rating. Teri Hatcher is still as hot as ever.

It was fluffy, but given the satire and the Stepford-wife aspects of the show, I was amused by the first episode and willing to give it a chance.

What bugged me the most was the narration by the dead woman. Dumb, pointless, clumsy, phony, and intrusive.

They are to me, I'm still waiting to see what hijinxs will happen next in Flesh Hunter.

I was just curious if someone had misjudged your sensibilities, so I wouldn't offend you somewhere down the road. Hollywood does tend to mishandle the english language and treat all viewers as idiots.

Still I would have expected you to say "I have no interest" over "The title turns me off: It sounds so sexist, and cliched."

She's looking a little old for an actress. On the street you'd probably drop your jaw then drop your trousers. She's still a beautiful woman.

Hopefully she'd drop her jaw, and then I'd drop my trousers

You're right Oat, I'd probably think she looks great if I saw her on the street. I remember her from the Lois and Clark series and, at the time, thought she was one of the most gorgeous women on the planet. I was surprised at how many wrinkles she showed on Desperate, and oddly enough, thought she was almost anorexic. At this point I would say she looks good for a forty something chick, but definitely not the type that I would drop dead to have a crack at. Jennifer Garner, on the other hand.........

I'd cross the street for either woman. There's something about Garner makes me think she'd be an incompetant lover. "I said Rusy Trombone, not Dirty Sanchez!"

In Germany only the first 4 or 5 episodes have been broadcasted yet, but I found the show very enjoyable so far and will keep on watching it.

It's targeted towards the 'Sex and the City' audience here, and given the fact that that show began to suck after the second season, I make no predictions about the future of 'Desperate Housewives'. But for the moment, it's definitely one of the more interesting shows on German TV.

As for the female cast, I think Eva Longoria and Teri Hatcher are very sexy; and I think Ms Hatcher has aged very well. Plus she looks much better than the last time I've seen her, which was in 1997's 'Tomorrow Never Dies'.

It is a very good show, very well written, the women are not bad to look at and even though the title sucks, I still catch it every Sunday.

After a late night I'm usually brain dead on a weekend, so I was thinking of an almost brain dead show I could watch. I remembered 'Desperate Housewives'. Over the last couple of years I've watched seasons 1-6.

I thought it was great. It was a unique mix of part comedy part drama which made enjoyable but also easy to watch

The only thing that bugged me was it was presented as a serious show, tackling serious issues. No it wasn't. It was a show of hot women, but putting a few deep comments at the start and the end to make it look highbrow.
