I remember the articles a few months ago where these GOP douchebags were talking how they could 'work with' Trump as opposed to Cruz. They thought he was just cynically playing to their redneck base to win the nomination.

Silly woman. Doesn't she know that only The Donald can make racist remarks and get away with it?
Well, actually, all that bad grammar does give some credence to the idea that she has no idea what she's saying.

You can debate as to whether the Republican Party is ghastly. However, at this moment in time, it isn't outdated.

I'll give you guys this -- at the end of the day, you had the turnout.
I mean sure, you had to chuck all your principles is the same jizz-tissue dumpster that's out behind every video store that still has the viewing arcades, but you did it.
Sure, , but fuck it, that's why they make sunglasses, amirite?

They have the White House, the Congress, Governorships, and State Houses.
But for the party that "hates government",
I disagree with the bolded part above: Cities have been laboratories of innovation for millennia. Without cities, we're still living in caves rubbing two sticks together.

The urban/rural conflict has been discussed before, but there are some different aspects coming up this time.
Someone who has started a fire by rubbing two sticks together has the knowledge of making fire without manufactured products and fossil fuels. And some members here live in rural areas, such as the owners of this site.

I'm going to say most of us expect the national debt to increase regardless of who is in office. Why?

^^ Interesting.
It looks relatively steady and flat until the Reagan-Bush years, when it more than triples.
Then you can see that the curve of the rise get under control, actually become convex, and level off under Clinton.
This is followed by a really abrupt break in direction and a rapid rise under Bush II.

Well, this is all interesting. I didn't use the word "blame" in my short posting. I am focused in on the word "expect". Elect Trump, Clinton, or Pat Paulsen (dated reference), my expectation is the debt keeps rising.

There was a huge increase in the debt during the Reagan years. You had tax cuts combined with a huge defense build-up. Also, Ronnie inherited a pretty big economic mess from Jimmy Carter. Remember the term stagflation. Trust me, the early 1980's weren't a great time to be looking for a job. George H Bush tried to cut into the deficit with new taxes. He was rewarded with a 1 term presidency. If Trump is really going to plow a trillion into infrastructure projects, that chart will be headed towards the heavens in a couple years.

I didn't hear that part, but Sessions is the kind of guy who says what he thinks others want to hear.
I don't think that getting rid of porn is going to be high on Trump's list.

^ It doesn't have to be, easy enough to form a unit and let it loose on the industry as it is red meat for the fundamentalists and the Democrats don't have the spine to do anything about it.
Bush Jr found time to pursue several obscenity cases in the middle of a war, I'm sure Trump won't have any problem letting the religious right do the same under his watch.

Yeah it is surreal that only in the US does the mainstream right wing deny climate change. A few right wingers in Canada have tried to float that balloon but they're ruthlessly mocked, the mainstream of the Conservative party tries to keep these imitators of the American right in line so they don't blow their chances at election time.

[url=25459]From Vox, back in July:
In April 2012, we created a major stir in the political world with a long piece in the Washington Post Sunday Outlook section called, It was adapted from our book published days later, It’s Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided With the New Politics of Extremism, and this was our money quote:

The Republican Party has become an insurgent outlier in American politics — ideologically extreme; contemptuous of the inherited social and economic policy regime; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.

As scholars who had worked for more than four decades with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, we faced a ton of scorn from sitting Republican lawmakers and outside observers for making this argument — and denial from most of the mainstream media. For reporters, professional norms and concerns about accusations of partisan bias dictated that the parties be treated equally, whatever the underlying reality. The safe haven of false equivalence led the press to ignore one of the most consequential developments in contemporary American politics: the radicalization of the Republican Party.

Talk About Backfiring! McConnell keeps Elizabeth Warren from reading a letter by Coretta Scott King, and it turns into a shitstorm. If he'd let her read it, very few would have seen or heard it. But now it's gone viral. Mitch McAsshat outsmarted himself this time.

Do you think McConnell is surprised by the reaction to Warren being muzzled? He's a calculating kind of guy. Could be he saw no long term harm in the action and thought he'd take a jab. Warren as the face of the left is not that much different than the days when Newt was a human dartboard for the other side.

McConnell probably doesn't give a shit one way or another. He plays the long game. He probably did not think this would blow up the way it did, but at the end of the day, his position is safe and Sessions is getting confirmed, so his opinion is to let Warren's fans have their little moment of pique.
But as I have said before...Drip, Drip, Drip....

One would have to have slept through the last eight years to give any weight to a Republican cheerleader like you leveling the "obstructionist" charge at the opposition, Mr. Hannity. Even if it were true, you and your ilk deserve nothing less than to be rewarded as you served Obama.

The right wing is against anything that requires government intervention, unless it fills the coffers of campaign contributors, or involves waving their collective penis around. Preferably both. Sure, we give a lot of food and such to poor nations, but anybody who thinks we do it for charity's sake needs to follow the money. The immediate post-WWII era would be a good place to start.
In the case of global warming, beachfront property is some of the most expensive real estate around. However, it becomes worthless as soon as buyers believe it will be underwater in a decade or two. A campaign contribution here and there and, voila, climate change is officially a hoax.

This article is kinda-sorta OK by me. This is good advice for politicians, but AFAIC the average man in the street would do well to keep pointing out the hypocrisy. The paragraph I quote down below though is solid gold ROFL.

And after that happens, say goodbye (or perhaps rather "dosvedanya") to freedom of speech and religion. Fox News will be the only government-authorized media outlet and church attendance will be mandatory. As will attendance at Dear Leaders' rallies.
Actually, come to think of it, there will probably be no separation between Church and Trump.

Which is really strange, because he quotes verses from "Two Corinthians." We'll probably be hearing about the twelve commandments, the really really great Samaritan, and I'm not thinking that the meek will inherit the earth.

No way that will happen. It would be up to the states to change the Constitution, not Trump. Is Fox News going to cover the state legislatures and governments in all 50 states? Is Fox News going to cover every city and county commission meeting in the United States? The country is way too big in both size and population for any one source to cover everything that is of some importance to someone in it.
If anything Trump would probably like to do away with church attendance. With his ego he probably sees it as competition. He would lose too much of the right wing of the Republican party if he tried though.
It's amazing how Trump has turned seemingly half the country into fainting goats. I say seemingly because I don't think the actual uproar is near as bad as the media makes it out to be. Happy people don't scream as loud as angry people do and from the viewpoint of cable news network executives happy people make terrible television.

Are people angry, happy, or fainting goats when they yell "Lock her up" or when they scream about the dishonest media? Wha?!! How about when they chase reporters around the room on a segway podium?
Have a giant stick of gum and chill out.
