I'm not saying a significant number of my gender are inherently evil, but I do believe when a man offers to foster parent a female child, they should be barred.

“former … foster carer will spend his first night behind bars after being found guilty of sexually abusing six children while they were in his care.

The court heard the man abused six children under his care.

… showed no emotion as a jury found him guilty on 20 out of 21 charges of child sex abuse, including the rape of three eight-year-old girls”

“The District Court jury heard the first girl said [he] told her she "wasn't worth it" and no one would believe her if she tried to tell anyone he had repeatedly raped her.

The young girl eventually told [his] wife about the abuse, who called the girl’s case worker.

She was removed from their care that same day and no charges were laid …

The Department of Child Protection continued to place children in his care.”

^ He wasn’t fostering children by himself. Barring couples that include a man seems pretty impossible. The fact that children were placed in his care after one of the victims reported the abuse and was removed also demonstrates a larger problem that would not be resolved from barring men.

^ Here's a heartbreaking case.

When a man is volunteering to foster parent young girls he doesn't know, I think you need to be wary.

^ Again, he was not fostering her alone. In addition, her foster brother was fucking her and her foster mother helped cover up the murder. Are you suggesting we bar couples from fostering?

I think men who are offering to work with women with severe disabilities should be barred as well.

So I'm a man. If I'm offerring to be a foster carer for an 8 year old girl I don't even know, or care for women with a severe mental/physical disability, I should not be allowed.

In my country there's presently a Royal Commission on abuse in the aged care industry. An advocate in the field was saying when a female aged care resident has been sexually assaulted by a male staff member tells the home, the response is often: he wouldn't do that; he's married and has a family.

Related case.

Excerpts from the article:

Joshua Boyle’s estranged wife says the Canadian man controlled nearly every aspect of her life, including forcing her to visit Afghanistan -- and then to have children after they were captured by a militant group linked to the Taliban.

In an interview with ABC News’ “Nightline” from an undisclosed location, Caitlan Coleman said she wasn’t given a choice to make the trek to Afghanistan in 2012 when she was six months pregnant, adding that Boyle took her passport to force her travels.

“I had no freedom as far as where I would go, who I would talk to, how I would dress, what I would say,” she said in the interview.

"The surgeon, who is also an academic, was arrested and charged ...
after he was involved in ... "stealthing", the non-consensual removal of a condom, during sex ...

Under [state] law, the non-consensual removal of a condom and continued penetrative sex is classified as rape."

"When charges were laid, the surgeon had his practising licence suspended by the medical board but the ban was lifted after a battle in the .. Civil and Administrative Tribunal"

Excerpts from the article:

A Toronto man accused of tattooing a woman with his nickname to let people know she was his property is facing multiple new sex assault and human trafficking charges, police said.

The 23-year-old man was arrested in February following a month-long investigation by Toronto Police Service’s Sex Crimes Human Trafficking Enforcement Team.

Simon Ho-On and a co-accused were charged with 21 human trafficking offences at the time. News coverage then prompted more victims to come forward.

Excerpts from the article:

After the release of the final report by the national inquiry investigating missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada, chief commissioner Marion Buller implored all Canadians to read the report in its entirety.

The 1,200-page report outlines what the commission described as an intergenerational Canadian genocide, revealing “persistent and deliberate human and Indigenous rights violations and abuses” as the cause of the “staggering rates of violence.”

Here are some of the commission’s key takeaways.

‘Canadian genocide’

Genocide quickly became the most talked about word from the report, which leaked on Friday ahead of its official release Monday. The commission included a 46-page supplementary report titled “A Legal Analysis of Genocide” to support its position that thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada constitutes a genocide. The report goes further to say that “the Canadian genocide” includes all Indigenous Peoples, but particularly targets women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual) people. “Settler colonialist structures enabled this genocide,” the report states, adding that the genocide is intergenerational, “whereby the progeny of survivors also endure the sufferings caused by mass violence which they did not directly experience.”

Though Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative Indigenous-affairs critic Cathy McLeod would not use the term in statements Monday, the commission noted that this report is not the first time Canada’s or America’s colonial history has been categorized as such, referring to several scholarly works over recent decades such as “The Genocide Machine in Canada” and “American Holocaust.”

Power and place

The report is titled “Reclaiming Power and Place” to emphasize the important role that women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people play in various systems of Indigenous laws, which should be considered “Canadian law” for First Nations, Métis and Inuit people, the report says. “It is not Indigenous law,” said one person in their inquiry testimony. Women are teachers, leaders, healers, providers and protectors in Indigenous law, and the report says these inherent laws should “serve as a foundation for a decolonizing strategy” going forward, so that Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people can “reclaim power and place.”

Right to culture

The commission identified four “significant historical and ongoing rights violations” that have affected the Inuit, First Nations, and Métis Peoples. The first is the right to access, participate in and enjoy culture. Colonization altered Indigenous people’s relationships to their culture, which for many communities involves passing on cultural traditions. “These cultural losses and familial disruptions also contribute to the social and economic marginalization of Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people,” the report reads.

Right to health

Health and violence are pointedly linked in the report, which includes testimony of the health impacts associated with physical violence, sexual assault, and emotional abuse. “Isolation, addiction, self-harm, and suicide are all common health-related challenges that Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people confront in the aftermath of violence, or in the aftermath of violently losing a loved one,” the report found. “These factors all increase the risk of further violence.” While Canada “often receives praise internationally” for its health care system, the report found that the country is failing its Indigenous people.

Right to security

The report defines security in social and economic terms and found that the marginalization of many Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people threatens their security and contributes to the targeting of this group. “An unwillingness on the part of institutions to address these issues maintains a status quo that ensures that the crisis of violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people continues,” the report reads.

Right to justice

Though justice is a fundamental legal principle in Canada, Indigenous people face barriers to accessing it, the report found. When Indigenous families grow concerned for a loved one who may be missing or threatened with violence, they may be forced to rely on institutions that “have historically ignored and continue to ignore their concerns,” the commission wrote. “More than that, they are forced to reach out to institutions that are directly at the heart of significant pain, division, cultural destruction, and trauma experienced in their family.”

Challenges of inquiry

The inquiry acknowledged that it was a success when measured by sheer number of participants who came forward. The direct testimony of nearly 1,500 people was heard from May 2017 to April 2018, including 468 family members and survivors. Another 800 people gave alternative submissions, such as written statements. But the inquiry laments in the report that it was hampered by government restrictions, such as a denied request to extend the inquiry mandate by two years in 2018. Inquiry members also noted a number of unfulfilled recommendations from the inquiry’s Interim Report in 2017, which suggested exploring the possibility of reopening of the Aboriginal Healing Foundation, which was opened in 1998 but lost its funding in 2014, and creating a “national police task force” to review MMIWG cases.

Over 200 ‘calls for justice’

The findings include 231 recommendations for change, or “calls for justice,” including a number that address social issues Indigenous women face such as access to housing, food and remote and rural transit options, and funding for women’s shelters. Other recommendations included creating an ombudsperson and tribunal for Indigenous and human rights, and funding for education and awareness programs related to preventing violence.

Excerpts from the article:

TripAdvisor has changed its employee policy and parts of its web platform following an online petition calling on the company to make it easier for users to find reviews that flag reports of sexual assault and safety concerns.

Back in March, an anonymous woman known as “K.K.” began a petition on Change.org in which she said she was raped while on an outdoor excursion with a tour guide who had several positive reviews on TripAdvisor.

K.K. added that when she complained to TripAdvisor about her experience, she was told to write a one-star review about the tour guide.

“Not only was this solution woefully inadequate to warn other tourists -- my one-star review would quickly get lost among minor complaints about the guide -- but it required me to relive the painful details of my assault and out myself publicly in a place where my assailant could likely find me,” K.K. wrote in the petition.

Excerpts from the article:

At first no one knew why the 5-year-old girl could no longer move her legs or control her urine. For months she lay on the ground, unable to walk or play.

Some in the community blamed witchcraft but the real reason was more horrific: The child had been brutally raped and left paralyzed as a result of her injuries.

The case has brought the issue of sexual violence against children to the forefront in Sierra Leone, where such crimes are often dealt with between families in private. In February, President Julius Maada Bio declared sexual violence a national emergency and he has vowed to help the 5-year-old get medical treatment abroad.

The federal government’s promise to present an action plan in response to the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls inquiry may not come to fruition before the fall federal election. Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett says that the plan will be ready and rolled out when Indigenous people think it is ready.

“We will have an action plan where our partners think it's adequate… we will work with our partners, and we will get to that place where we will have a roadmap for the concrete actions to stop this tragedy,” Bennett said in an interview on CTV’s Question Period.

Ex-NFLer Kellen Winslow convicted of rape:
But wait...there's more. WOW...is there more....

From his early years in Cleveland (2004-08), to his final NFL season in 2013 with the Jets, Winslow became known to co-workers as a compulsive masturbater and pornography enthusiast, according to two teammates and three former team officials. He could count on having an empty seat next to him on any team flight, due to his ritual of watching hardcore pornography on his portable DVD player, according to those sources. On one occasion, an equipment manager tasked with delivering gear to lockers after hours walked in on Winslow masturbating at his locker, two seats away from the entrance, according to two team officials familiar with the incident.

During road games when the team stayed at a hotel and had a curfew, assistant coaches who performed bed checks reported on multiple occasions finding Winslow watching pornography.
When pornography became widely available on mobile phones, he often watched it on his smartphone during meetings, the two former teammates said (nowadays, such sites would typically be blocked by the building WiFi).

Teammates begged out of shared hotel room assignments with Winslow because he watched pornography and masturbated openly, with no regard for who was in the room, a teammate and an official said. Romeo Crennel, former Browns head coach, and former Browns assistant Terry Robiskie made efforts to mentor Winslow and impress upon him expectations of appropriate behavior, according to the officials, especially once Crennel became aware of a road-trip roommate’s pleas for a new assignment. The advice, apparently, didn’t get through. Later on in his career, after being sent to Tampa Bay via trade, Winslow acquired a life-sized silicone mold of a woman’s torso—complete with vagina and anus—to bring with him on road trips, according to one former assistant coach.

This is an eye-opener as to why so many men and women have remained silent about harassment, assault and rape.

Pro sports franchises are filled with type-A personalities and it's not unheard of for teammates to sometimes engage in fisticuffs with other teammates. The fact that other NFL players -- not exactly shy retiring types -- chose to just avoid / ignore Winslow, tells you something. I mean, we all love porn here, and the SI article makes it clear that watching porn does NOT mean is going to be a rapist, but a majority of us, in this poll, made it clear that watching porn in public is NOT OK.

Winslow's teammates may not have felt like they were being sexually harrassed by Winslow, but they were. And while it may have been an open secret in NFL locker rooms, we're just now hearing about. They all kept quiet about it. Incredible.

And Winslow clearly had a problem. They could have organized and tried to get him professional help. So their silence inadvertently caused him to hurt others and now he's off to jail for several years.

^Winslow's over-the-top masturbation/obsession with porn, and the rapes he committed make me wonder if there was something driving him to do these things that we can't see. Was he brain damaged by CTE? Was he raped or molested as a child? If so, it certainly wouldn't excuse his actions, but maybe it would provide some sort of understanding as to why he did it.

And I think it's funny how he has completely changed his look from the "bald warrior" look, to the "clean-shaven, well-groomed, bespectacled nerd" look.

The entire article:

Kentucky police have honoured a pizza delivery driver they say rescued two girls who were being abused by their father.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Mark Buede was honoured Tuesday by the Lexington Police Department. Police say Buede was delivering a pizza to an area motel last November and knocked on the door, which opened to reveal a man and a naked child on a bed behind him.

Police say the scene caused Buede to alert authorities, who responded and found two girls hiding in the room. They say a subsequent investigation led authorities to believe the man had been abusing his daughters. Police didn't release the man's identity, but said he was charged with multiple offences.

Other people, including the involved officers, were also honoured Tuesday.

Excerpts from the article:

An Indian mother and her daughter had their heads shaved and were paraded through their village after resisting an attempted rape by men including a local official, police said Friday.

The world's largest democracy has an abysmal record on sexual crime against women, particularly in rural areas where the majority of the 1.3-billion population lives.

Ward councillor Mohommad Khurshid forcibly entered the women's home in the eastern state of Bihar on Wednesday with other men and allegedly attempted to rape the newly married 19-year-old daughter, police told AFP.

How is this not considered sexual assault? Because the people who are being exposed to his actions are men? Or because they are teammates? This whole story is incredible.

The teacher also asked one of the boys to keep their conversation secret".

regularly “unnecessarily touched him on the thigh, left the student for periods of time in his underpants, asked the student to walk around the stage and jump and squat in speedos and commented on his ‘very big bulge’”."

"the teacher said he described it in a “blokey way” and said some directors expected emerging actors to invest in a pair of kneepads, and he had been a victim of this when he was a young director"

Excerpts from the article:

An American judge is under fire for deciding that a teenage boy accused of rape shouldn’t be tried as an adult in part because he came from “a good family,” had “very high” grades and because tougher charges could tarnish his future.

In a decision that has since been reversed by a New Jersey appellate court, Judge James Troiano ruled last July that the 16-year-old boy should not face charges in an adult criminal court after he was accused of recording the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl at a pyjama party.

Prosecutors said the boy shared footage of the alleged rape with friends and texted them: “When your first time having sex was rape.”

A Toronto man is facing 22 charges after he allegedly lured at least three small children at two Filipino churches over the past year, recording his sexual assaults on them and sharing them online.

Toronto police Det. Const. Don Bai says that sometime before March 2019, Facebook contacted American law enforcement officials with information suggesting someone was trading and sharing videos and images of the sexual abuse of children using their service.

The Americans then contacted the RCMP, who then notified Toronto police.

Ha! I hope Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, Alan Dershowitz, and the fat orange pig are sweating right now. If prosecutors want to make a deal, I’d be perfectly fine with the courts granting Epstein immunity if he spilled the beans on Trump. Maybe Trump wasn’t the one putting these Lolita Express parties together, but he’s definitely the biggest fish.

To explain, there was a woman who had been connected to this case who said Trump raped her when she was very young, and threatened to kill her family if she told. She had corroborating witnesses, and her prior testimony had been checked out and confirmed, but she started receiving death threats and decided not to move forward.

Well yeah, that's what I mean, It's mind-boggling that it has taken the story this long to get out. I understand the culture and that no one wants to be a snitch (and also that Browns management had a talk with him) but still yes, it's incredible.

Donald Trump said of Epstein in 2002: "I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."

Last January, Trump attorney Alan Garten told Vice News that his client had “no relationship” with Epstein. In a statement to The Daily Caller on Sunday, Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said that “Mr. Trump only knows [Epstein] socially through the Mar-a-Lago Club, one of the finest private clubs in the world.”

Why would they be? If there is evidence that any of these people were directly involved in committing the alleged crimes, then that should be legally pursued. Other than that, I'm not aware of any law which makes it a crime to be friends with someone else accused of a crime.

Singer R. Kelly, already facing sexual abuse charges brought by Illinois prosecutors, was arrested in Chicago Thursday on a federal grand jury indictment listing 13 counts including sex crimes and obstruction of justice.

U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Joseph Fitzpatrick said the R&B singer was taken into custody about 7 p.m. local time and was being held by federal authorities. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, Kelly is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, Chicago.

He was arrested after the indictment was handed down earlier Thursday in federal court for the Northern District of Illinois.

I must say;

Didn't he claim to be broke? How was he affording that!?!?

Unless Trump was doing a solid for a fellow sex offender....

Note: I will no longer refer to him as "R. Kelly" Like O.J. Simpson that was a nomenclature that gave him the patina of stardom or showbiz. It's a performance name. What's going on here now is very, very real and he has caused real pain. Therefore, I'm using only his real, legal name going forward in this thread.

There are (unsubstantiated) claims that he tried to make moves to leave the country previously, including falsely claiming he was contracted for shows in Dubai or something.

BTW, also in that link, the girl in that infamous video from the PREVIOUS child pornography case is apparently ready to testify in his upcoming trial.

He may have very well seen the last of the outdoors for a very long time, if ever again.

Two women have come forward with allegations of inappropriate text messages involving the province’s grand chief, while the First Nations leader denies any wrongdoing.

Bethany Maytwayashing said she first met Manitoba Grand Chief Arlen Dumas while working at a Winnipeg restaurant in 2018 and saw him again in May 2019. She told CTV News that Dumas began sending her messages shortly after the second encounter.

Maytwayashing said the messages began with someone she didn’t know under the name “Charles Forbes” asking her to guess who the account belonged to. At one point Maytwayashing asks “Arlen?” and the person responded with “Lol yes. Man you are good Haha.”

Excerpts from the article:

New research suggests the number of sexual assault survivors to visit Ontario hospitals is significantly higher than previously thought.

The study, published Thursday in the American Journal of Public Health, examined five databases used for medical documentation in Canada and found there have been 52,780 cases of sexual assault survivors treated in Ontario hospitals between 2002 and 2016, amounting to about 3,500 cases each year.

Two of the databases use an internationally recognized code for identifying the reason for a patient’s hospital visit known as the Classification of Diseases. The code “Y05: sexual assault by bodily force” is typically only used for the most extreme cases, leading to underreporting of other instances of sexual violence.

The federal government promised $900 million in compensation Thursday to settle multiple class-action lawsuits lodged on behalf of survivors of sexual harassment, gender discrimination and sexual assault in the military.

The settlement provides $800 million for members of the Canadian Armed Forces and $100 million in compensation for another class of employees of the Department of National Defence.

Over the past few years, participants in several lawsuits alleging similar misconduct and systemic problems in the military agreed to co-operate in their legal actions against the government.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in Midwest City, Oklahoma after he allegedly raped a 4-year-old girl in the washroom of a McDonald’s.

The child, who was on a daycare field trip on Tuesday, went to the washroom inside the McDonald’s play centre, but daycare workers said they found the door locked when they went to check on her after she had “been gone for a while,” according to media reports.

Eventually a man, later identified as Joshua Kabatra, opened the door, saying he was just washing his hands. But that was not what the child told the daycare workers, who immediately called 911.

The engineer was one of the few women at a remote mining operation when, after a social gathering one evening, she says a co-worker drugged and sexually assaulted her.

At the time, Gartley didn't know what to do or how to report it.

Excerpts from the article:

The federal government is fighting a proposed class-action lawsuit against the RCMP over bullying and intimidation of members, saying the national police force already has a comprehensive policy on harassment and the Mounties have made strides toward modernization.

In a submission to the Federal Court of Canada, lawyers representing the attorney general argue the action spearheaded by two veteran male Mounties, Geoffery Greenwood and Todd Gray, should not be certified.

"This motion is not about whether there is, or has been a harassment problem in the RCMP, or even whether the RCMP leadership has appropriately responded to the problem," the federal submission says.

"The sole question is whether the proposed claims ought to proceed through the vehicle of a class action. The proposed action fails to satisfy even the law threshold for certification."

Interesting case.

"[tribunal] members ... accepted there was no sexual relationship between them.

However, they took into account the escalating pattern of behaviour and found the boundary that must be kept between a doctor and patient was significantly breached.

... was in a close enough relationship with Ms X to spend a night with her at a hotel and share breakfast with her at 2am in the morning," the tribunal noted.

"We regard this as a serious breach of the standard expected of a medical practitioner." "
