There is absolutely no excuse for this movie not to be out on DVD since it was Paramount who made it.

The excuse is usually related to the music rights. Music copyright issues kept Two Lane Blacktop out of circulation for years, despite the fact it was also distributed by a major (in this case, Universal). I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing is going on with Fabulous Stains considering much original music it contains.
I do hope it makes it to DVD soon though. It's my favorite Diane Lane movie!

If the delay in the DVD release of "Stains" is indeed because of music copyright issues, I hope they get resolved soon so that this movie can finally make its home video debut.

I remember that movie, BSD. It was it on television back in the early 80's and my parents told me that a lot of the movie was filmed on various islands around Hilton Head, which was where my family vacationed every summer during my childhood. I still remember so many distinctive scenes from that film, almost as if recalling a dream I had once as a little sprat. I'd love to see that one again. Choice!

Prompted by the focus on music centered drama, I was going to mention the bizarre Emerald Cities (which includes performances by Flipper & The Mutants), which has gone without release for years. But, evidently, for the time being at least, [link inactive:404 - Page not found]it is available

Luna(1980) - Jill Clayburgh in one of the most obscure films of all time and I don't think it ever had a video release of any kind. If it did it was probably on the equally obscure format of laserdisc or 8mm home video. This movie had only brief exposure on cable in the early 1980s then vanished. From what I can remember Jill has a incestuous relationship with her son and that alone has probably made the film very obscure in the United States.
also these Sonia Braga gems from her tenure in Brazilian cinema:
Lady On The Bus(1978)
Eu Te Amo(aka: I Love You)(1981) - dubbed version or subtitled one I love this movie.
Gabriela(1983) - this movie had some great Brazilian music that CJMike and I would love.
One of her better known movies Dona Flor(1976)has been released on DVD but maybe in the PAL format but im not sure.

They Only Kill Their Masters with James Garner and Katherine Ross.
Why MGM is letting this near-classic rot in the vault is beyond me; they released it on VHS a few years back.

Hell yeah, this needs a release. This is my 3rd favorite Spike Lee (after Do The Right Thing and Malcolm X) with Spike at his most gently touching. There has been the rumor that Criterion will eventually get around to releasing this on DVD like they did on laserdisc.

I wasn't as crazy about "Four Flies". It seemed like one of Dario's weaker early films, but I need to see it again and need to see a much better copy.

In regards to "Four Flies On Grey Velvet", the rumor is that Blue Underground has been trying for a while to negotiate releasing it. With 2008 looking like the companies' last year, hopefully we'll see it, along with a definitive Phenomena. That would make me happy.

Grave Of The Vampire starring William Smith. There are dollar bin editions floating around already, so it would be nice to see Sony (who currently hold home distribution rights) release the definitive version.

Some Kind of Hero(1982) - w/ Richard Pryor & Margot Kidder. An absolute gem. Pryor says a line like this in the bathroom-ambush scene "...something done crawled up in you and died". Pryor's nemesis was on the stool taking a crap and it stunk up the place. Pryor reached under the stall and stole the satchel full of money. Spoiler, yes.

Flash, I believe Bill Lustig has said that he has released most of his films that he is intersted in now and that he's planning to return to directing.

I think Paramount might still own it. They put it out in US cinemas back in '71 so they may still control the rights.

My current "want" list:
Get Crazy!
The Legend Of Billie Jean
Decline Of Western Civilization II
Urgh! A Music War
The Devils
Young Playthings

Numerous Russ Meyer flix
I assume anything containing pop music is going to languish in limbo for however long until demand dictates.
All I know is that if they ever get around to re-releasing Barfly people are going to go bananas. Right now everyone at my store is asking for Michael Jackson's Moonwalker which isn't in print anymore.

I love sexploitation movies. So, one movie I would love to see on DVD would be:
"The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck" featuring the sexy Kathy Shower!

Yes. How this has never been released yet I do not know. Come to think of it, not many of Kathy Shower’s movies have been released onto dvd. Tennessee Buck is by far her best movie. She even admitted that this one was her personal favourite. They should release the full version that was seen on a cable channel many years ago. The one that’s doing the rounds on the net is the edited version. The full version has some more scenes with Kathy and the female natives including the stripping of Kathy and a longer oiling scene.
