I watched Iron Maiden perform in my home town here in Denmark last summer. They were amazing - even after so many years. The best live concert I have ever seen.

Just got back from Austin last night, yet in the flyover-state mecca of music all I managed to catch live were the local Austin Lounge Lizards at the Cactus Club this past Saturday night, a day after my 40th birthday.

But it was worth it, me having been a big, big fan for almost 20 years.

Pissed I was recently - On the day of ticket release, tried to acquire Mastodon tickets for Islington Academy for June 9th. First opportunity I got on that day - Sold out...
Seen them before live, but them selling out within what must be a couple of hours at the most on the first day of ticket release, just wouldn't have happened a while back.
Flipside of your favourite bands getting larger, with greater crossover appeal, you REALLY have to fight to see them live. Real drag, when you're used to seeing bands, where you could be so casual that you could walk up to the venue on the day, and still get it on the door.

I missed Mastodon opening for Slayer, but that won't happen next time. I'll definitely be seeing both of those bands. I'd be cut if I missed them AGAIN though.

Crue Fest 2 is the only concert on my agenda this year. Motley Crue, Theory of a Deadman? and some more. hey. It's a done deal. I'm just sorry I missed it the first time around. Yes, now I have to travel 550 miles to see it, it will be worth it.

I saw Children of Bodom a coupple weeks ago. I was lucky to see them play because they cancelled the rest of their gigs because of Alexi Laiho's injuries.

Wow, sick lineup of '80s hair bands. I was just listening to LA Guns' album Cocked & Loaded this morning. I would have loved to see them live. Do you know what songs they performed?

^They were on the second stage, so I only caught a couple of their songs, but I remember hearing "Never Enough" and "Sleazy Come Easy Go" off of Cocked and Loaded.
From what I heard, they sounded good.
Cocked and Loaded is a great album btw.
(I believe that someone on another board mentioned that they didn't play "The Ballad of Jayne"...but that's not first-hand information, so take it for what it's worth)

Never knew you got so excited over My Chemical Romance.
Because surely you couldn't be excited over Faith No More when Jim Martin isn't in it, and as we all know, if it ain't got "Big" Jim Martin, then it ain't Faith No More.
(In case my wink ever gets deleted, the above two sentences were sarcastic.)

i've seen mcr live several times and i actually quite like them. one of the many bands where i have to distance myself from their fan base though, but i'd rather rabid teenagers than drunk bearded fat men any day.
faith no more. nothing needs to be said.
jane's addiction.
lots of other emo and metal acts i'd enjoy seeing.

I wonder how they'd order the top five acts if this were an American show. Probably Jane's Addiction, AFI, Faith No More, My Chemical Romance, Paramore. No way would they put Faith No More first. Bad theoretical American promoters, bad!

Woo woo! I just got my Depeche Mode tickets for the 19th! Here's hoping the show doesn't wind up cancelled due to Dave's damaged vocal cords. ::fingers crossed::
One of my old friends was trying to pawn off her $230 pair of tickets onto me. I told her I didn't want to pay that much, and I didn't want to be on the floor. She was all, "Well, if no one else buys them from me, you can just pay me whatever you think they're worth." I guess she just didn't get that I don't like to be on the floor. (Plus, why the fuck do I want to pay $30+ for Ticketmaster fees, when I can easily drive to the Honda Center's box office for a hell of a lot less money and not much more time than that?) Thankfully, she sold that pair, so I didn't have to deal with any awkwardness.

This festival is quite young. It's been going for less than 5 years. Last year the headliner was Nine Inch Nails, and the reformed Alice In Chains played before them. So, I dunno, I think their priorities are pretty cool.
I think that Depeche Mode are highly rumoured to be touring here early next year. If they play a festival I might end up seeing them.
Now, why the fuck do your tickets cost so fucking much? And what the fuck are 'ticketmaster fees'??? I mean, as of a few months ago, when I buy tickets online there is a $5 online buying fee for some reason, and I have to pay if I want them mailed to me, but that's like $6. I paid $90 for Slayer & Megadeth. The most I've payed for a show was $130 for The Cure. I know you can pay $300 for Britney tickets, but that's VIP shit.
/>$230 USD = 276.110 AUD
Wow. How is that price justified?!?! Do the band give you back rubs during the show? Even music festivals are only $130.

It was $230 for the pair, so $115 each ($99 for the ticket plus $15+ in Ticketmaster fees.) So, similar to what you paid for the Cure, right?
What is Ticketmaster? Basically, they have exclusive rights with all the major venues to sell tickets to the public (by phone, internet, at Ticketmaster locations) for events (except, nowadays, Major League Baseball). They mark up the tickets with all sorts of fees because they can.

We have Ticketek and Ticketmaster. Their prices are comparable, the only differences are that they deal with different promoters and venues.
I'm glad you clarified that that was for 2 tickets, I almost blew a fuse over that one.

Video footage of FAITH NO MORE frontman Mike Patton swallowing a two-foot shoelace from a piece of footwear that was thrown onstage during the band's August 16, 2009 performance at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary can be viewed below (go to around six-minute mark in the bottom clip).
According to the Italian news blog Musica Metal, Patton attempted to continue singing with the shoelace halfway down his throat, before spitting it out and handing it back to the audience. After returning to the stage, Patton commented, "I saw some eyebrows raised during my last stint, but that's my show, and now let's move on!"
FAITH NO MORE's setlist for the Sziget show was as follows:
01. Reunited (PEACHES & HERB cover)
02. From Out of Nowhere
03. Land of Sunshine
04. Caffeine
05. Evidence
06. Surprise! You're Dead!
07. Last Cup of Sorrow
08. Cuckoo for Caca
09. Easy (COMMODORES cover)
10. Midlife Crisis
11. Epic
12. RV
13. The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
14. King for a Day
15. Ashes to Ashes
16. Be Aggressive
17. Just a Man
--------------------------
18. Chariots Of Fire / Stripsearch
19. Digging the Grave

^ Reading current concert reviews, looking at current concert footage, seeing current concert set lists, while knowing that FNM might entirely blow off the U.S., feels like a knife twisting around in my heart.

They said they 'wouldn't entirely rule it out'. Similar thing they said about here, and now they're headlining a festival and doing sideshows. It'd probably be worth travelling to see them. I'm thinking of catching them somewhere else, not sure where.

You know what? Looking into it, I can see that FNM were a much bigger band here and elsewhere in the world than they were in the USA. Their music charted way better.

Yes, they were (are?) underappreciated in their native land. It is funny that you mentioned traveling to see them, as I was seriously tempted to do just that when I was given $5000 by my dad at the beginning of summer. Alas, it would not have been wise for me to do such a self-indulgent thing as fly overseas to see a concert.
Anyway, back on topic, the Depeche Mode concert was really good. Not great: Dave's voice is still not quite up to it, and Martin was off-pitch in the beginning, which was a real shocker! Thankfully, Martin got his voice back on track in time to sing such a beautiful rendition of "Home", it literally brought tears to my eyes.
The set list was really solid, although I do question why they left "I Feel You" in when Dave's voice is just not up for it. Not only that, but after they performed it, Dave's voice, which had had its ups and downs previously, was just completely shot, and no amount of his wonderful frontman charm could quite redeem that. Oh yeah, and Martin's guitar was waaaaay too loud. I don't know why that was never fixed.
Overall, it was a very entertaining show, and I'm very glad to have finally seen them!
