for some reason they take a few days to process the heavy load of orders, so i guess i won't have official confirmation for awhile but i have good credit, so faith no more are as good as mine. oh, plus all those other one hit wonder bands. jane's something-or-other.

Last night I saw the Cult on their Love Live tour. They were playing in an agricultural exhibit hall about an hour east of Vancouver that held 2000 people and was maybe three-quarters full. The opening act was the Living Things, who are sort of a NY Dolls/Ramones mash-up and reasonably entertaining.
The most fun part of any Cult show is seeing just how wasted Ian Astbury is going to be. He had some trouble on the first couple of songs, but I think he was thinking "we used to play stadiums, and here I am playing in a large barn". After the third song, he kicked it into gear, and gave a strong performance. Contrary to rumour, he can still hit the high notes when needed.
They played the entirety of the Love album in album order, took a ten minute break, then played eight of their usual concert staples. They played for a total of 90 minutes. I enjoyed it.

They'll be at the 9:30 Club in D.C. a week from today. With the Reverend Horton Heat and Nashville Pussy.
Can't wait. They don't make it around to the states too often, so they've got to be honored whene'er possible.

Heck, the lineup changes all the time. As long as Lemmy is present and accounted for, all's well with the world.

Yesssssss. I agree. I have been following that very closely. I love Rammstein. I missed their one and only tour out here back in 2001, so I am super keen to see them. One of the only bands I love that I haven't seen live yet.

Check me out. I just got back from the gig.
Megadeth were good. Even though I am not a fan they played a solid show and their fans seemed to love them.
Slayer... I'm undecided. The muscians went all out, fucking killed, but Tom's voice was dead. He said so after the first song. Therefore it was a mostly instrumental set with occasional guest vocals from the audience. It was better than cancelling, I guess, but everyone was really disappointed. I know I was.
Still, at least they belted out some classics. Tom actually sang the closer, Raining Blood. Fucking worth it.

Saw Manson two nights in a row. Solid stuff. Great setlist. Identical both nights, which sucked, but still rocked hard.

Nope, I wasn't following on Twitter. Silly me thought they might actually bother to announce something like that on FB. Plus I check the FNM site regularly (I never trust that "sign up for announcements" crap, as I've been burned too many times in the past.) Anyway, thanks again for finally getting around to mentioning it.

That's my next one... They're playing the Roundhouse in Camden 24th February. Sold out last time. Couldn't see them, but they had just release their latest album. It was far easier getting tickets this time.
Missed a lot of gigs last year due to a combination of stuff selling out, and me having a whole lot of back pain (Agonising back + Metal gigs = )
Hopefully I'll return to the former gig warrior I used to be.

THE IRON MAIDENS
The Iron Maidens.jpg
Formed in 2001, The Iron Maidens have quickly established themselves as one of southern California’s most popular tribute acts and are rapidly gaining international recognition. The band boasts beauty as well as excellent musicianship, lively stage presence, and a remarkable stage show with theatrical scenes interspersed throughout.
First and foremost on the agenda of The Iron Maidens is talent. These women are highly trained professionals with diversified musical backgrounds ranging from orchestral and musical theater to blues and rock. The band and its members have been the recipients of many awards including best tribute band, and best in category (guitar, bass, drums, voice) at events such as The Rock City News Awards, The LA Music Awards, and The All Access Magazine Award Show to name a few. The line-up is Kirsten “Bruce Chickinson” Rosenberg on vocals, Linda “Nikki McBURRain” McDonald on drums, Courtney “Adriana Smith” Cox and Sara “MiniMurray” Marsh on guitars, and Wanda "Steph Harris" Ortiz on bass.
The Iron Maidens cover Iron Maiden material from all eras of the band’s career, encompassing the band’s biggest hits as well as fan favorites. The stage show includes appearances by Maiden mascot Eddie, the grimreaper, the devil and more.

Amazing band, amazing shows. I saw them last night, tonight, and I'm seeing them again tomorrow night.
Setlist from last night:

Tonight:

Photos from last night:

Gallows sucked. AFI were great. Neil Hamburger is awesome, but the crowd hated him and tried to boo him off (all part of Neil's plan, really).
I was at the front, as you can see. Mike stage dove onto me and it was awesome. One of the best shows I've ever been to.

Yup, went to the gig yesterday, and this is how it played out... Loved it. Acoustics were quite good at the venue, but the naturally heavy, technical density tended to drown own the vocals mostly. Still cool though... The supporting band Totimoshi impressed me - and I'm sure others, as they got a good reception from a crowd basically unaware of them previously. A great feat.
Upcoming for me:
Seeing two gigs at the same venue five days apart - very different though... April 5th Opeth, and April 10 Ennio Morricone, both at The Royal Albert Hall.
Stoked for both of these... Expensive but momentous - Opeth celebrate 20 years of being together by doing 2 sets (the first playing 'Blackwater Park' in full), and Ennio Morricone's a living legend who has written some of my favourite music ever.
Very smug I was, to secure these tickets...

Oh, so it wasn't just at the show I was at that Mastodon's vocals were drowned out? Phew! I thought I was just in a poor position or something.
Jealous of Ennio Morricone. I saw The Good, The Bad & The Ugly on the big screen last week.

Hm, that's a bit odd. I thought this tour was coming around my neck of the woods in July...it was supposed to be Testament, Megadeth, and Slayer. What a legendary lineup! It rivals the lineup I saw a while ago with Iron Maiden, Motorhead, and Dio! To say it was glorious would be a severe understatement.
My next concert should either be Kreator, Voivod, and Nachtmystium, Alice in Chains, or Immortal :D.
EDIT
By the way, ma meeshka and Asmodeus, nice taste :). Hahaha I was at that Sziget festival when Mike swallowed the shoelace! At one point a girl threw her red panties on the stage and he sang the song with the pair on his head :). Definitely one of the more memorable shows I've ever seen. I can die just a bit happier now.

Bi Girl, the American Carnage Tour with Slayer, Megadeth and Testament was supposed to have started in January but was postponed until this summer cuz Tom Araya had to have back surgery. In the meantime, Megadeth decided to have a short tour to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their landmark album "Rust In Peace" - which they will be preforming in it's entirety. Along with special guests Testament and Exodus it should make for a great concert experience, especially now that original bassist David Ellefson is back. Now if only Marty Friedman and Nick Menza could have also been brought aboard. Oh well, I guess we can't have it all...

Mike took his dick out at Brisbane Soundwave. I wasn't there though.
They broadcast their set live on Chatroulette at the third show I went to. It was hysterical! Dudes jacking off were broacast in front of thousands of people!
