As did I. I am solely going for Jay-Z. I'll stick around to check out U2, but I am not a fan.

I'm not a Kanye fan, but as you can see I would even go to a U2 concert just to see Jay-Z! So I am very excited for this one. I might sell my ticket if he puts on a sideshow.

So yeah, went to Rock The Bells. The organization was fucked. Many, many problems. I got held up in the morning and with the parking and security issues missed Slick Rick, Rakim & KRS-One. I'm still disappointed about that. What I saw/heard was amazing though.
Tribe killed, Wu-Tang were great and Snoop gave a hell of a show. DJ Premier was good, but it was a lot to do about not very much. I was walking around trying to get water when Lauryn Hill was on, but I did hear her.
Saturday, I was at the FYF Festival and saw/heard - Cults, Warpaint (my main reason for going), 7 Seconds, Local Natives, Washed Out, Cold Cave, School Of Seven Bells, !!!, Sleep, Big Freedia, Best Coast, Titus Andronicus, Dead Man's Bones, Janeanne Garofalo (at the Comedy Tent) and The Rapture.
Bold = The best stuff I saw in entirety or at least heard a bit of.

That's a bummer. Slick Rick and Rakim killed it. I bailed from KRS-One till near the end of Lauryn Hill because the sun was shining directly on the crowd during that time. Who the fuck designed the Shoreline Ampitheatre? Wtf?
What was it like during that heatwave? That was totally balls.
Tribe were easily the act of the day. Wu-Tang and Snoop were on fire as well.

^ That place was built on top of an old garbage dump. Supposedly, the lawn used to catch fire when people lit cigarettes, from the methane coming up from all the decomposing stuff underneath.

Is Google also residing on the garbage dump? Because that would be amusing.

Just got back from seeing Paramore and Tegan & Sara. Paramore gives a great concert and they really make the audience feel like family.

I saw them from a distance at a festival in February. Hayley did a song with Jimmy Eat World, which was pretty cool.

I'm going to see The Hold Steady next week. I don't really know their music too well but I think they're the type of band I'll really dig.

OMG, Belle & Sebastian were so damn good. I had a smile on my face the whole time.
Jenny & Jonny were good too, but I don't think I like them as much as Rilo Kiley or Jenny's first solo album (with The Watson Twins).

Ice Cube smashed it. I can't believe he played his greatest hits in chronological order. I really couldn't have asked for a better setlist.

Dillinger the other day, were immense! Incredible show... Support were The Ocean (who I'd seen before with a slightly different lineup supporting Opeth), and Rolo Tomassi who were great (they look like they'd be beaten up by Paramore, but beneath their meek, student-y exterior lies a wildly creative, frenetic, technical beast of a band.)
Upcoming for me: Neurosis - December 6th at Koko, Camden and... (total win) Godspeed You! Black Emperor, December 15th at Troxy.

I saw Baroness twice, Lamb of God and Metallica. The first two opened for Metallica, but I also went to the Baroness side show.
Baroness were amazing, just as good as when I saw them in Feb. Lamb of God are so boring I walked out. Metallica owned.
I'm seeing all of them 3 more times this week

Saw Jay-Z open for U2 last night. I had cheap seats so the sound was horrible, but it was an alright evening. I've got floor tickets to see them in a few weeks. That should be better.

Both immense. Both legendary to me (Godspeed verge on mythical).
No more gig plans for this year (what remains of it), but very happy with who I saw these last twelve.

Floor tickets for Jay-Z KILLED! One of the best shows I've seen all year.
Seeing Tool and Rammstein a few times late January. I might squeeze in a gig or two before then, not sure, don't have anything planned so far. Considering going to see Darkest Hour.

Let's see... in the past week I've seen:
Devildriver
Bullet For My Valentine
Stone Sour
Primus
Murderdolls
Ill Nino
Monster Magnet
Dommin
Rob Zombie
Slayer
Kylesa
High On Fire
Protest The Hero
Trash Talk
Queens of the Stone Age
The Melvins
Maybe some more. Most of them I saw multiple times. Some of them I don't like, ie Bullet, Ill Nino, Dommin, PTH, Trash Talk... they were just there.

Awesome. I hope that gig swings my way. I've seen all of them except Anthrax though so I'm not really fussed if I don't get to go. It would be a blast though. Do you have a ticket for a certain section like seats or floor?
I saw dead prez a few weeks ago and Ill Bill last week. It's a hip hop kinda month.

Not long in from that. Excellent performance and a long ol' set meant to encompass tracks recorded over their 20 year lifespan. Omitted some of my faves, but it's a personal thing; with a back-catalogue that large, it could come down to luck if one's own personal favoured tracks are played.
Also today: Booked to see Deftones play the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on August 24th.
