I was watching CNN this morning with the drumbeat of repetitive stuff they are doing right now, including an endless riff on how the Hamilton-Pence Trump tweets are getting all the attention, distracting from very real questions of conflict of interest.
And then they go on to discuss the Hamilton thing in ever more detail.
By the way, I can't believe I actually typed the words, "Hamilton-Pence Trump tweets."

For about the two hundredth time, they are speculating on CNN that Trump's meetings with Romney, Gabbard, etc. are just head-fakes.
I don't remember any prior president or person of substance being treated by the media in that way--with suspicions that everything they do is showmanship and various types of misleading. And the reason the media has these speculations is...
experience.
How long are they going to let themselves be led around, when they know they're being played?

Ahhhhh.
When Troll went on and on about Hillary and "pay for play" it wasn't just projection, and it wasn't indignation. It was jealousy.

I wonder what Trump and the Twittersphere think of the Russian client state Syria bombing what's left of Aleppo into rubble over the weekend?
Deliberately targeting private residences and hospitals.
There is now no fully-functional hospital remaining in Aleppo.

Must see the first 15 minutes of Rachel Maddow tonight. Asshole 'nationalists' saying "Hail Trump" with a Nazi salute. This shit is happening.
Obviously these creeps don't remember how all that ended for Hitler.
She poisoned them all as Berlin was being overrun by the Red Army.

Trump's recent statement that he'll refuse the $400,000 per year Presidential salary is probably one of the few promises that he will keep, since a man worth $10 billion giving up four hundred thousand bucks has no more effect on him than it would be for the average American worker to turn down a raise that would add only 2 dollars to his family's $50,000 yearly income. (And that mathematical comparison is exactly accurate.)
Otherwise though, 2 months before even becoming President, Trump is already earning the title of President-elect Conman by taking actions that show that he will do the opposite of many of the things that he told his supporters he would do during his pre-election campaign appearances.
While campaigning before the election, at a rally in Scranton, Pa., Trump promised to "massively cut taxes for the middle class, the forgotten people, the forgotten men and women of this country, who built our country." During a town hall meeting on NBC's Today show, he said he believes in raising taxes on the wealthy.
And at least half of Trump's supporters agreed with him on that, according to a pre-election survey by RAND Corp., a research group.
"Just before the election, after the last debate, 51 percent of them intending to vote for Trump supported increasing taxes on high-earning individuals," says Michael Pollard of RAND.
But Trump's plan does the opposite, says Lily Batchelder, a law professor at New York University and visiting fellow at the Tax Policy Center.
"If you look at the most wealthy, the top 1 percent would get about half of the benefits of his tax cuts, and a millionaire, for example, would get an average tax cut of $317,000," she says. Yeah, that's right, the amount of money in tax cuts that would go to the top 1% of Americans would total as much as all of the money that would go to the rest of our fellow citizens who are below the wealthiest 1% of America's population.
But a family earning between $40,000 and $50,000 a year would get a tax cut of only $560, Batchelder says, and millions of middle-class working families will see their tax bills go up under Trump's plan — especially single-parent families.
A $560 a year tax cut works out to a savings for these people of just $10.77 per week. So the "massive tax cut" that President-elect Conman promised these people in his campaign has actually ended up being such a small tax reduction that it would only pay for 2 members of the family to have lunch at McDonalds once a week, throughout the year. For example, the man of the house could take his wife, or one of the kids (but not both) to have that McDonalds lunch, but the 2 of them had better order Cokes, instead of getting milkshakes, to go along with the Big Mac and small size french fries that each of them eats, if they want that $10.77 weekly tax savings to actually be able to fully cover the cost of their lunches. (Or, at least come fairly close to fully covering such lunches.)
But folks, this New York conman's lying promise about massive tax relief for the middle class, and his claimed favoring of tax increases for very wealthy Americans, like the Trumps, will be understood as an even more severe case of deception when our fellow citizens start realizing what Trump's plan for eliminating the estate tax actually means.
People have to be so wealthy to be hit by the federal estate tax that a couple years ago, in one state of the midwest (Nebraska, if memory serves) only 2 families in the entire state were subject to paying that tax, in that year, due to the very high value of their estates.
The federal estate tax has been in force for many decades, under both Republican and Democrat Presidents, and the wealthy have done just fine, with those who have actually been subject to this tax still having had no difficulty in paying cash to purchase new Mercedes-Benz sports cars to give to their kids for their high school graduations. Such gifts also go along quite nicely with other pretty good presents, like ten thousand dollar Rolex watches.
But the wealthiest American families can end up paying as much as 40% of the value of an estate when a rich parent or grandparent dies and passes the family fortune to his or her heirs. In the case of President-elect Conman, if his total holdings are actually worth $10 billion, as he always claims, abolishing the federal estate tax would mean that his heirs would receive a total inheritance that could be as much as $4 billion larger than what they would get if the head of their family were to die while the estate tax exists, as it does now. That would be a gigantic tax savings for the Trump family, equal to 4 THOUSAND TIMES A MILLION DOLLARS. But we all know that the Trumps would still manage to scrape by pretty well if they only inherited 6 THOUSAND TIMES A MILLION DOLLARS, instead of receiving the full $10 billion. Actually, the Trump heirs ONLY receiving a total of $6 billion, between them, would still give them a combined wealth that would be greater than the total worth of some entire countries that are on the poorer end of the scale of the world's nations. Those poor, poor Trumps, if daddy's plan to get rid of the estate tax should somehow manage to fail!!
It is no exaggeration to say that Trump's plan to eliminate the federal estate tax, if successful, would mean that his heirs would enjoy a tax-cut windfall that would be more than 1 thousand times larger than any wealthy Americans had ever experienced before the elimination of the estate tax.
But President-elect Conman actually had the nerve to tell his followers during the campaign: "I'm fighting for you!"
Well, now that Trump's latest "economic plan" has been released, conveniently after the election, I'd hope that even Trump supporters who have no background in economics or math, are still able to begin realizing how they were conned, and just who it is that the scumbag is really fighting for. But, knowing Trump supporters, I'm afraid that many of them may still be willing to continue "bending over" for the hero whose words they worship.
If President-elect Conman were to drink a beverage spiked with truth serum I have no doubt that he would be likely to verbalize thoughts like: "Those characters in the crowds at my huge rallies were just too easy, and didn't even realize that they were symbolically dropping their pants and bending over for me. While actual negotiations can be tough, those suckers just made it easy child's play for me to sell them pure baloney."

Here's how you do it. You give a trinket to the middle class, like a $200 check in the mail.
Next, you cut taxes for the wealthy. Big, yuge cuts. Tell people that cutting taxes is your jobs plan.
Then, you announce a shortfall, and cut everything in the budget that benefits the middle class.
Don't get it backward. First the tax cut. Then the cut in budget.
It shouldn't be too clear that the reason Social Security and Medicare are gone is that people with eight mansions want to have ten.
Also, make sure to vilify whatever programs you cut with the idea that someone somewhere is a cheat. Someone somewhere bought a steak with food stamps. Someone somewhere on Medicaid has nice sneakers and expensive hair extensions. That will do the trick.

He'll find a way to take the $400,000. This is a man who paid one of the kid's $7 Boy Scout registration fee out of his "charitable" foundation, instead of his own pocket.

^^Warren Buffett's biographer says that back in the day when there were pay phones, and pay phones cost a dime for a local call, a friend traveling with Buffet asked if he had change for a pay phone. He had a quarter, but rather than give it to her, he went to a news stand to get change.
I love that story.

You could be right, but I'm more inclined to think the election was lost (and polls were distorted) by huge numbers of people who supported him but would never admit it publicly.

African-Americans did not turn out for her. This was one of the bigger fears early on, but then her share of the Black vote swamped Bernie Sanders' in the primaries, and so after that, everyone thought thing were going to be alright.l
Another problem:
I don't think anybody from either political party realizes that "Latinos" and "Hispanics" are not a monolithic voting bloc. They tend to identify through their country of origin and heritage first, by generation second, and then by shared language.

I sick of people blaming black voters for apparently NOT turning out to vote, blacks (particularly women) where the ONLY group that actually made a sensible decision to vote against Trump in high numbers.

The only thing I've heard Hillary Clinton, herself, "complain" about were the two James Comey letters, where he put his thumb in the election scale -- twice -- when it was too late to do anything about it.
Her "ineptitude" has so far resulted in a minimum of 2 million+ more popular votes than Trump received (and still counting).
As we type, Trump is actually only ahead by less than 10,000 popular votes in Michigan (and they're still counting).
As of now, Jill Stein -- not the Clinton campaign -- is the only one talking about asking for a recount in the Rust Belt states that Trump won by razor-thin margins.
As I stated earlier in this tread, Trump "won" as a result of the Electoral College, and he will almost certainly be sworn-in as the 45th president.
You will not see me claiming he's not the apparent president elect.
In fact, I haven't seen anyone here claiming that he is not the apparent president elect
I'm guessing that you're OK with us pursuing our "1st Amendment remedies" though, correct?

— One Star. “It tried to put my nativity figures into an internment camp. Would not buy again.”
— A Real Bigly Item. “It called Mary a nasty woman, told Joseph to go back where he came from, built a wall around the manger, and then when you press it it sings ‘I’m Dreaming Of A Totally White Christmas.’”
— Not What I Wanted. “Every autumn my family chooses a new ornament to go onto our holiday tree. This year it was between this ornament and another one that is less flashy, less gaudy, and just overall nicer. During our family meeting we overwhelmingly chose the other ornament but somehow we still ended up with this one. We’re not sure what happened.”

That's why I love Oregon's 100% by mail, 100% paper ballot system. One of the many, many reasons.
You get the ballot in the mail and have a couple of weeks to review the flyers that came in the mail, the booklets from League of Women Voters and from the State of Oregon, and any other research you want to do online, email, friends, etc. You mail in your completed ballot, or drop it in a designated box at city hall or wherever. No lines to stand in. No purposeful shortage of polling places in 'minority' areas. No legislative blocking of 'souls to the polls'. No blizzards and snowfalls keeping people home. You get it in the mail. You send it back. Paper trail.
I have nothing against machines, other than they are not the best system, providing 1) paper ballot receipts are produced by the machine for the voter to review and place in a drop box, and 2) recounts can be made upon request.

^ Recounts on electronic devices -- i.e. that do not produce a contemporaneous paper trail confirmation -- will not detect tampering.
Quality hacks/reprogramming -- like the "best" malware -- are designed to be almost invisible (i.e. invisible to all but NSA-level tools and resources).
Electronic vote-stealing and fraud is virtually undetectable, and unfixable (unless there was/is a contemporaneous paper trail confirmation to compare it too).

The Big Lesson From 2016 Is That Neither Party Has A Winning Vote Coalition
The Obama coalition turned out to be pretty weak, but Trump’s might be even weaker.

(There is one thing I disagree with in this article -- the author mentions that Clinton got 15 percent of the land mass vs. Trump's 85% And that matters because...? If you took the five boroughs of NYC and Long Island and made them their own state, it would be the 13th largest state. If Northern Virginia merged with DC to become it's own state it would be the 37th state. I don't know how much it actually matters how much of the land mass favors Republicans. Are we going to start letting cows vote?? Which, BTW, is something Republicans have probably thought of...)

You know if someone had taken a month long nap and had asked me how the election had went and I replied that the losing side...
1. Has had idiotic people protesting somewhere in the U.S. every day since the election.
2. Is screaming for a recount in multiple states.
3. Has not completely accepted the result of the election.
4. Is hinting at election fraud.
They would probably think Clinton won the election.

Any recounts will be paid for with private funds. All recounts have to be completed by December 13th. So, they can count all day for a couple weeks. It's both democracy in action and an exercise in futility.

It's harder than that. The recount cannot be rushed or use shortcuts to meet the deadline, because to overturn the original count the recount must be more reliable than the original count, not merely yield a different result. It's really too late now as there's no way to do a recount in time that has a high enough quality to overturn the original count.
And I don't even know what "recount" means in areas that use electronic voting machines with no paper audit trail.
I do agree that it is an absolutely legit request and process, and hopeless. She needs to overturn all three, not just one.
