^I agree with what you said!
In a re-match, both GSP and Hendricks would each have an additional advantage. Hendricks could go into the fight confident knowing that he has a good chance defeat GSP and he's able to keep up with GSP for 5 rounds. GSP could go into the fight confident knowing he has a better idea of what Hendricks can do in a match (he could be even more strategical prepared for Hendricks) and GSP knows that he could take a lot of Hendricks punches and not get knocked out.
In general, it looks like Hendricks showed that he has endurance, but GSP showed that he can take hard punches and won't give up.

MM, I'm with you bro! Did you see Hendrick's post-fight interview where he said that he only used 70% of his power on GSP? He said he wasn't really going for a knock-out but figured he could take out GSP the old fashioned way... by tap out. Then Dana White quickly countered: "Well next time you gotta give it 100% if you wanna win!"

I heard that some of the personal issues GSP has been dealing with are his girlfriend is expecting a baby, his dad has been sick, he fought his last few matches with a bad eye (that he sometimes loses vision in) and he might have some nerve damage.

Well Anderson Silva wasn't able to get any revenge against Chris Weidman tonight at UFC 168 but he did get a rather gruesome broken left leg for his efforts. Ronda Rousey, on the other hand, had a great night and submitted Miesha Tate to retain her bantamweight title.

^I really hope that Ronda Rousey goes against Cat Zingano next!
It was very unfortunate that Anderson Silva's got injured like that. Plus, with no definite decision, peope are still gonna question if Weidman is the best middleweight or not.

The UFC announced that Jon Jones is out of UFC 200. USADA says that he tested positive for a banned substance.

I'm not a MMA fan one bit. However, I just may head down to my local watering hole, after work, to check out the Lesnar bout.

^ He laid on top of the ridiculously smaller opponent for essentially the entire first round and did no damage.
Round 2 consisted of him circling around backwards while the ridiculously smaller opponent half-heartedly waddled around after him, occasionally waving his fists in Lesnar's general direction, but never really hitting him.
Round 3 was a repeat of round 1. The ridiculously smaller opponent looked like he'd spent too long in the sauna after the "fight," but had no cuts, bruises, swelling or other signs of damage to his face. What a farce. Jose Aldo, who is approximately the size of one of Lesnar's craps, is a harder hitter.

So Ronda Rousey might be moving to professional wrestling.

She should be perfectly suited, given her public status as an unbeatable MMA fighter was purely an illusion created by herself and the UFC.

Mark Hunt has been cleared to return by the UFC.
He's scheduled in for UFC 221 on Feb. 11.

Everyone looking forward to the Cyborg - Holly Holm bout?

Those previous women's bouts like Holm-Roussey, Holm-Tate, Holm-Schevenko were amazing. Seeing those women using pure body movements to avoid punches was literally watching an artform.

UFC 219 just completed. Anyone else see it?
Since Rousey, Holly Holm has now lost 4 of her last 5 bouts. And, as per my comment above, the Rousey win needs to be put in context. (I.e. Ronda Rousey was never actually an MMA fighter.) I'm actually surprised Holm made it to the end.
It was a great card.

UFC Fight Night St Louis: Results
Jeremy Stephens defeated Dooho Choi via TKO (punches) at 2:36 of R2
Jessica-Rose Clark defeated Paige VanZant via unanimous decision (29-28 x 2, 30-27)
Kamaru Usman defeated Emil Meek via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3)
Darren Elkins defeated Michael Johnson via submission (rear naked choke) — R2, 2:22
/>I remember Michael Johnson from the Ultimate Fighter reality show. This was quite an upset
Love this comment quoted in the article.

Anyone else see the just completed UFC 220?

SS, yes I happened to check out some of the matches from UFC and Bellator. Here are my faves:
Stipe: still the gargantua that he is!
DC: the best of the best, but a cocky know-it-all
Rory MacDonald: wow, what a bloodbath!
Honorable mention: Sonnen vs. Rampage was cool but it would have been great to have seen a knock-out from either fighter.

^^ Did you know Stipe Miocic was actually the underdog in that bout?
I think Francis Ngannou is more a one trick pony (like Mark Hunt and Ronda Rousey) than an MMA fighter. I think he'd have more success in boxing/kickboxing than in MMA.
Re. Daniel Cormier, his stated height and weight reminded me of what women say about men in online dating: deduct three inches from their height and add twenty pounds to their weight.

^^^^, ^
"THEY called Francis Ngannou the most dangerous man on the planet. They compared him to Mike Tyson. They predicted a devastating finish. They forgot about Stipe Miocic.
[...]
On a night many expected the UFC to be celebrating a new star, Miocic proved he remains the gold standard with a one-sided decision (50-44 x 3)."

^ The UFC heavyweight contenders are Ngannou, Overeem, Werdum and Hunt. I don't think there's anyone else there. I think it's most likely to be a rematch with Ngannou.

I only recently started to follow UFC. Watching it on the weekend, and comparing it to boxing, I realised a major difference: In boxing, when one boxer is continuously punching another, it is almost standard for the one being punched to just hug their opponent.
I never thought this was right. Watching UFC 220, when a fighter was being punched, they never did this, I assume because  they’re not allowed.
I remember the Mayweather-McGregor bout, when McGregor was punching Mayweather, not only did Mayweather hug him, but on more than one occasion, Mayweather just turned his back on McGregor. The referee would then just separate them. I remember at the time this not seeming right. (And I actually read afterwards McGregor saying if an opponent did that in UFC, the fight would be over.)
I think boxing should take something form MMA, and not allow someone to grab hold of their opponent to stop them from punching.

^ "Ngannou remains as the number one contender in the heavyweight division but after the one sided showdown, it seems as though Miocic’s next challenger could be Cain Velasquez."
/>I think Ngannou was way overhyped by the UFC. That knockout of Overeem was just a lucky punch.

Oh God. Valentina Shevchenko is an amazing MMA fighter. When I saw they had allowed someone I'd never heard of to go up against her, I was immediately concerned. Instead of blaming the referee, instead ask how this bout was allowed to proceed in the first place.
"Shevchenko came out swinging in the first and secured top position on the ground, landing a vicious elbow that split Cachoeira above her eye. Blood spurted everywhere as claret turned parts of the Octagon floor into a sickly shade of red.
Midway through the second round Shevchenko had landed 129 total strikes to one. The frightening demolition job only got worse as the local hero was powerless to prevent herself from copping the beating of a lifetime.
When Shevchenko submitted Cachoeira late in the second round via a rear naked choke, she’d recorded 230 strikes to the Brazilian’s three."

It looks like it's all over for Mark Hunt.
With the headline bout, Romero didn't make the weight, so did not win the interim belt.
UFC 221
Yoel Romero (12-2-0) defeated Luke Rockhold (16-3-0) via KO (punches) R3, 1:28
Curtis Blaydes (8-1-0) defated Mark Hunt (13-11-1) via decision (unanimous) (30-26 x2, 29-27)
Tai Tuivasa (8-0-0) defeated Cyril Asker (9-3-0) via TKO (punches and elbows), R1 2:18
Jake Matthews (12-3-0) defeated Li Jingliang (14-4-0) via decision (unanimous) (29-28, 30-26, 30-26)
Tyson Pedro (6-1-0) defeated Saparbek Safarov (8-1-0) via submission (kimura) R1, 3:54
