Maybe I'm just a ruthless S.O.B. but if I made the Ryder Cup team there is no way in hell I would be conceding any putt longer than two feet.

You just knew Furyk was screwed when he got down to worm level to look at that putt. I've played golf for almost 40 years, I've played well over a thousand rounds of golf, many in tournaments. I've never seen anyone make a putt after looking at it for as long as Furyk studied that putt.

I've got a suggestion for the U.S. 2014 team. Just take the best 12 players in the U.S. with the last name of Johnson.

If my math is right the U.S. needs Woods to win, Furyk to halve with Garcia on the 18th, and Stricker to come back from one down to win. I'm assuming a Duffner win and a Kuchar loss.

This five footer or so from Furyk is the biggest putt in the tournament right now.

We're fucked. We deserve it though because we are fucking soft. Can't win a single fucking match that has gone to the last hole this week. Mickelson, Furyk, Simpson, they've all choked under pressure today. Other than the Johnsons and Duffner we have a bunch of small, fuzzy, fluffy, little Beverly Hills show dogs. We need bulldogs. Fucking McIroy barely gets to the course in time, has no practice, and comes from behind to beat Bradley easily. Meanwhile we have fucking Mickelson who might as well have played in a Union Jack cheerleading skirt today seemily not giving a fuck whether he is winning the match or losing. I'm not convinced either team is better than the other but I'm definitely convinced the European team is tougher than the American team.

It's yours. There is absolutely no way Stricker is making that. Right now Hunter Mahan is laughing his ass off at Love picking Stricker, Snedeker, and Furyk over him.

On the plus side the Americans performance today has done a lot to restore my confidence in my game, especially in my ability to at least hit an absolutely must have putt within six feet of the hole.

I'm pretty sure Woods pulls that match out if it actually mattered. Unlike most of the Americans today Woods is a competitor that always plays for keeps if there is blood in the water. Different story once someone pulls the plug out of the ocean though.
Please let Johnny Miller captain the Americans in 2014. In 1999 when Europe blew the big lead everyone on that team was in tears in the locker room after the deciding match. This year fucking Mickelson is laughing and signing autographs after the deciding match. Doesn't take a lot of looking to see which team wants it more.
Great job with your picks Love. You used one of them on a guy that got beat 5 and 4 by fricking Paul Lawrie. That is the British equivalent of getting beat 5 and 4 by Larry Mize.

I don't know how many of you watched the Manny Pacquiao - Jeff Horn fight down in Brisbane, but holy shit, what a fucked up judgement.
Horn DID own Pacquiao in about the first four or five rounds. He was tough, fast and aggressive. But then Pacquiao readjusted and adapted and started raising his fist and letting Horn walk into it every time he lunged forward. At the end of the ninth, Horn's face was a crimson mask. The ref came to his corner and said he almost stopped the fight and would still do so if Horn continued to take that punishment.
Horn, admittedly, readjusted too. He got some good haymakers in and had Pac looking old and slow in some moments; But Manny had the endurance, and while he was never able to put Horn away he spent the remainder of the match knocking him about. The Australian crowd cheered when Horn was announced the winner. I, and others, suspect that the judges were involved in "home cooking." Pacquiao didn't have great style, but there's no way a rational person could watch that entire match and say Horn won that fight.

^ I watched it. Home cooking? They were all overseas judges, and it was a nobody fighting a living legend. I thought Horn won by a few points, but I didn't think the judges would give it to him.
I think people are forgetting that each round is judged in isolation. Horn, IMO, closely won most of the first 8 rounds. He was the aggressor, which in a close bout becomes significant, and many of Pacquiao's punches missed. Pacquiao dominated some of the later rounds, but they still only count as single rounds.
I actually thought it was all over during that 9th round, as did the ref. But Horn came back and was competive in the final 3 rounds.
Considering that no one gave this guy a chance, that bout was unbelievable (Funnilly, I assumed Horn was hand picked by the Pacquiao camp - I assumed this was just seen as a stepping stone to another Mayweather-Pacquiao bout or similar - but i read today that Horn had fought his way up and was actually the WBO number one contender for this WBO belt.)

Rugby Union.
The NZ All Blacks and the British & Irish Lions have just tied a three-match 'Test' series. The All Blacks won the first Test, the Lions won the second and the third Test (played Saturday night NZT) ended in a draw.
The British & Irish Lions are somewhat unique as far as international sports teams go. They are composed of players from the entire British Isles, namely players from the Welsh, Scottish, English and Irish Rugby Teams. The Irish players come from both Northern Ireland (Ulster) and The Republic of Ireland. The Lions never play at home - every four years or so the 'tour' South Africa, Australia or New Zealand.
The first match between a Lions side and NZ was in 1904. The two teams have played each other 41 times - NZ has won 30 times, the Lions 7 times and there have been 4 draws.
The Lions have visited NZ 11 times, and this recent tied series is only the second time they have not lost the series. For them and their supporters a draw feels like a win.
For the All Blacks, who are current (and repeat) world champions, who until the second Test defeat to the Lions hadn't lost at home against anyone since 2009, and who were being expected by their fans to win the series 3-0, the drawn series represents a character-building wake up call.
For a sports fan, the third (drawn) test included some of the best Rugby Union match moments since the sport went professional in the mid-1990s.

"THE World Boxing Organisation has just released its results of a re-score of the controversial Manny Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn welterweight title fight in Brisbane - and the Aussie won.
A WBO statement declared that Horn won seven rounds to Pacquiao’s five and was a rightful winner. Five independent judges reviewed the fight, watching without sound, and delivered their decision"
It looks like a rematch might actually be on too.

If anyone's was interested, the Pacquia-Horn rematch is officially off.
I'm actually surprised Pacquiao wanted a rematch. What he would gain from a victory wouldn't be worth risking for what another loss would mean.

Manny should pack it in. He's a guaranteed hall of famer with nothing to prove and only his health to lose.
Now that the Mayweather/McGregor clown show is over I'm looking forward to Chocolatito's rematch with Rungvisai and Inoue's North American debut. The first match between Gonzalez and Rungvisai was ruthless, I think Gonzalez doesn't get enough credit for fighting in a very talented weight class.
Whereas I look forward to the GGG/Canelo fight even though I feel that GGG is overrated because he has been dodged in a merely okay weight divison and until Jacobs was mowing through strictly B or C level fighters.

^ Interesting you call the Mayweather-McGregor bout a clown show, when it was a far more entertaining spectacle than the Mayweather-Pacquiao snoozefest.

That's because Mayweather knew he was in no danger McGregor, carried him for several rounds and let him punch himself out before blowing him out with ease.
The reason the Mayweather Pacquio fight was a snooze is because that is how Mayweather wins fights and he was in actual fear of losing to Pacquio (who Mayweather had dodged for years when he was at his peak) was past his peak. Boxing fans knew that fight would be a snoozer. These 'megafights' are scams to fleece non-fans who know no better.

^ What amazed me in the Mayweather-McGregor bout was that all the punches McGreger threw were just baby jabs; i don't think he threw a hard punch in the whole bout. And McGregor's punching power was presented as the whole reason for this bout.
Next to both those several hundred million dollar bouts, the Pacquiao-Horn bout was amazing. And speaking of dodgy claims, i think Pacquiao
never had any intention of another Horn bout. He just went threw the motions of "I won that fight, i want a rematch". And when it's all booked "Oh ... I'm actually not free that day"

Pacquio has never dodged a fight. More likely he is getting ready to retire and wants a bigger money fight.
I finally got to watch to Ward vs. Kovalev II fight and Ward clearly won it convincingly. I think Kovalev was broken mentally from the first fight, he's talking about retiring and apparently was not focused in the training camp. Like many white punchers I found him overrated, a talented fighter for sure but putting him in the top pound for pound is absurd as the only significant fighter he beat was a Bernard Hopkins just shy of 50!!

^ Blacksix, can i ask if you've seen the Pacquiao-Horn bout?
Isn't it interesting that now in boxing, if you're a big name and you lose a bout, it doesn't matter. You just say you were robbed, or your opponent cheated, and then you just pretend it didn't happen.
(In the UFC recently, a well-known fighter had lost their last two fights, and pretty comprehensively, and their next bout was a world title fight.)

Didn't see the Horn fight yet. It isn't that big of a deal because Manny is considered past his peak. Back in the day losing a few fights didn't kill your boxing career, I think it is absurd if you lose two fughts these days you're considered done.

Echoes of the Super Bowl at Game one of the WNBA Finals: LA Started off 28-2 over the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx managed to scratch and claw their way back to get their first lead since that initial two points in the final minutes of the 4th to be up 84-83. Luckily for LA, Crystal Gray made a fall away jumper in the final 3.3 seconds to win 85-84.
