Trump has no core. He's not conservative. He's transactional.

If he can manipulate the dems to support something of his, he will.

If he can get something out of Ben Carson, he will. He doesn't give a shit about Ben Carson. It was just useful to appoint him. It gets people off his back and gives him a ready answer in case anyone bugs him about diversity. Now he can wave them off in a little flash of bluster.

Elaine Chao and Betsy DeVos are also useful. They are rich, they are connected, they can result in big campaign donations, and they get people off his back about diversity. He is happy to use them. Self-interest. Priorities. It is more important to get cash and power; you use what you can.

What was it somebody said on tv a day or two ago -- implying that employing someone black meant you weren't racist -- I can't recall. But having Mammy wet nurse your kids doesn't mean you aren't racist. It means you use people to your own benefit however you can.

^ As it refers to Sleepy, does the word "token" mean anything? It certainly does in this case.

As defined by the urban dictionary:

Token - a black guy, in this case, Sleepy, put in a movie or FM45 Administration, in order to please the black community and give of the impression of racial acceptance.

"Sleepy" . Sometimes when I see Ben Carson talking, it brings me back to my college days. Me and my friends taking bong hits, totally stoned, trying to talk about important stuff but mostly just sounding like idiots. Ben Carson would have fit right in, even if he didn't smoke with us!

To Hardware's point: It's important to note that Trump really doesn't give a crap how most of his departments are run, as long as his cabinet Secretaries are loyal and do what he wants.

If you want to get a better idea of how Trump feels about black people, look to how he ran (runs?) his company. Did he trust any black people enough to put them into executive positions?

Setup: Michael Cohen was testifying before congress, and told members of a number of times Trump showed his racism. Then in response, Mark Meadows trots out Lynn Patton, a black woman who worked for Trump.

When Cohen tells Meadows to ask Patton how many black executives in the Trump Organization, Meadows tries to wave it off as if it doesn't matter. (the answer is "zero")

But the fact that Trump won't hire black people in key positions in the Trump Organization is just one of many examples of his racism. Hardware, if you really think Trump isn't a racist, you should read . While there may be some plausible deniability if people try to process a single accusation at a time, when viewed over a longer time period, his racism is really obvious.

Trump's treatment of women is a little different. He has hired women executives in the Trump Organization. was an executive at the Trump Org, and she had this to say:

There is plenty of evidence that Trump has said some about some women, but I don't necessarily think it's misogyny - he's just an asshole. However, his history of many sexual assault allegations indicate that he really doesn't have much respect for a lot of women. His own words on the Access Hollywood tape do give a little insight as to how he views them.

I believe you are incredibly naive to believe the answer is "no".

Your language implies white supremacists and sexist pigs all act the same way and that clearly isn't the case. Unfortunately, Trump has advisors smart and devious enough to advise him to appoint people to his cabinet to give an impression of tolerance and representation. It's all well and good that they were appointed but they are all relatively harmless positions. They stay close to Trump but not in a position where they'd have much power to oust him.

I don't believe you understand who Trump is selling to. His base does not give a good god damn about tolerance or any representation other than of their own needs. That being so, Trump doesn't even have to pretend to care, and I submit that his twitter tirades suffice as proof.

As to the notion that Trump's advisors are responsible for his cabinet appointments, I think you're giving Jared and Ivanka too much credit. It seems far more likely to me that Trump just went with what fit into his worldview - rich people know how to get things done.

Furthermore, no president's cabinet level appointees have the power to oust him. The only body granted such authority is the Congress. Given a Republican majority in either body, Trump doesn't have to worry about that, and I'm sure somebody has pointed that out to him.

^ I didn't say the advisors are responsible for appointment. I said they advise - advising and being responsible for a task aren't one and the same. Trump's advisers don't stop at Jared and Ivanka, do they? For a start, there is also his incel advisor Stephen Miller who had a sizeable influence on Trump's anti-Muslim policy.

Very disturbing indeed.

Adolf Hitler made similar speeches against Jewish people in the 1930s. Very disturbing indeed

It bothers me that I don't wonder anymore how the German people ignored/allowed what was going on.

We absolutely have no right to even ask the question.

There's no pretending that we aren't the same, as a group.

If you used to wonder why people just went along with Caligula, or Mad King Ludwig, or whatever -- wonder no more. We are those dumb-asses.

You'd like to say, "It's only one guy, and he's obviously awful, his actions result in atrocities; other people will step in and remove him and restore order." What a joke.

Come on FlacFan, do you really believe things will get deadly if Trump loses, meaning that Trump supporters will be doing some killing?

Trump's fans are just a bunch of blowhards who make noise to get attention. They're too cowardly to risk the legal consequences of actually committing violent acts that cause deaths.

Trump's crazed and racist statements are just going to get more and more outrageous as November 2020 approaches. And that behavior will hurt him so badly with Republican moderates (as well as with moderates of any political stripe) that even the polls taken by Fox News, just before Election Day 2020, will show Trump losing the election by 10 percentage points, or more. So most Trumpies will know that all of the major polls are showing that things are going MUCH WORSE for Trump, than was indicated by the last polls before the 2016 election. And though they certainly won't like it, most Trump fans will realize before Election Day 2020, that Donald's ship is going to sink, and also realize that there's absolutely NO PRACTICAL THING which can be done to SAVE the Trump Presidency.

Last November, we all witnessed the election disaster for the GOP that was brought on by Trump's OVERHEATED RHETORIC (along with that of Fox News) that tried to scare Americans, with Donald Trump's DIRE WARNINGS that the people of South American Caravans would INVADE America if the voters did not support Trump's tough border policies by voting for Republican candidates, who would back Trump on those policies. But the END RESULT of Donald's CONSTANTLY repeated scary warnings was that the total number of votes that Americans gave to those Republican candidates in the 2018 midterm elections, was a RECORD 9 MILLION votes LESS for Republicans than the number of votes that Democrat candidates received. And IMO, November 2018, not only provided a PREVIEW of the gloomy election night results that Republicans & Trump will face in 2020, but the massive turnout of people who reject Trump and his nonsense, which Donald himself will inspire, will not only bring defeat to Mr Trump, but will also cost the GOP control of the U.S. Senate.

The Anti-Trump passion that Donald's words and behavior are gradually heating up, like a coffee pot headed to the boiling point, is going to result in a larger number of voters turning out in 2020, than has previously been seen in the history of America's elections.

And that very heavy turnout is going to be very bad for Trump and the GOP. Because in 2016, Hillary UNDERPERFORMED as a Democrat, with Clinton having gotten 6 million FEWER VOTES than Obama got in 2012, and Hillary's 2016 vote total was 10 MILLION votes LESS than Obama got in 2008, to first be elected President.

At the rate Trump's going , I fully expect him to help give the Democrats control of the White House AND the Senate, as well as Donald's negative effect on Republican candidates, even extending to an increase in Democrats elected to the House, which they already control.

Yup, as a very proud Anti-Trumper, I can hardly wait to have the opportunity to vote, on November 3rd 2020, and then later, that night, watch the election results coming in, which are almost certain to spell the end of Trump's hopes for a 2nd term.

This guy is only now discovering that maybe Trump doesn't actually like black people after all! Better late than never, I guess.

And speaking of this, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time I hear Trump saying, "Black unemployment is the lowest in history." He says it like he's really expecting black people to be grateful to him - like now they owe him a favor. What the fuck is up with that bullshit?

Excerpts from the article:

FM45 on Thursday chided his supporters who chanted "send her back" when he questioned the loyalty of a Somali-born congresswoman, joining widespread criticism of the campaign crowd's cry and his Republican allies worried about political blowback from the angry scene.

In a week that has corkscrewed daily with hostile exchanges over race and love of country , FM45 also claimed he had tried to stop the chant at a reelection event Wednesday night in North Carolina -- though video shows otherwise. The crowd's "send her back" shouts resounded for 13 seconds as FM45 made no attempt to interrupt them. He paused in his speech and surveyed the scene, taking in the uproar.

"I started speaking really quickly," he told reporters Thursday. "I was not happy with it. I disagree with it" and "would certainly try" to stop any similar chant at a future rally.

I...I...I just can't believe it! I had NO IDEA Trump was so awful! There were absolutely no indications of this in his history!! Why didn't anyone TELL us??

Honestly, I don't know who's worse: the scum who happily and openly embraced the racism, xenophobia and misogyny from Day One, or dumbfucks like this guy who almost literally needed the Hubble Telescope to see it.

That guy is still rationalizing. He's spinning his gears pretty hard to try to find a way to still support tGrump.

Why? It was clear who he was when he came down the elevator and said Mexicans are rapists.

He's been in your face about who he is. He's shouting it with a megaphone. And that guy up there is like -- fingers in ears -- "La la la la..." and working his ass off trying to find a reason to support tGrump.

And why is it okay with him that tGrump has a Guantanamo for toddlers?

Psychology Today:
Are people born conservative?
So, it seems that it's pretty predictable that if you are fearful and easily disgusted, you vote conservative.

And that's the tool of the demagogue, to make you as fearful and disgusted as possible.

TGrump's bullshit about "blood coming out of her wherever" is not a coincidence. And Mike Pence, standing coldly aloof in the internment camp with the unbearably foul odor, was probably just disgusted. He's not playing down empathy. He's just disgusted.

^^ Trump wants US black and ethnic minorities to be submissive and "know their place."

I always cringe when I hear politicians boast about unemployment being lower like it says everything about the economy or prosperity of the population. Very rarely do they talk about whether people remain in fuel poverty or how many on low income can afford rent let alone save for a deposit on a property.

Yes, I do. The violence is there under the surface, waiting for a flash point. Unless there is an extraordinary awakening on both sides, this will get much worse before it gets better. That is assuming it gets better.

But FlacFan, if Trump's increasingly over the top statements, plus his hate mongering, which is becoming more obvious by the day, end up bringing the result I expect, which is Donald losing both the popular vote, as well as the Electoral vote, by landslide proportions, then just who, or what, do you think that some angry Trumpies will want to target with violence, even while KNOWING that their violence would ACCOMPLISH ABSOLUTELY NOTHING toward changing the result of Trump having just suffered an election blowout?

In fact, I can't even imagine which possible people, organizations, or officials, that even hate filled Trumpies would want to take the legal risks of attacking, after they'd just seen their conman hero slaughtered in the total votes he got from Americans, compared to the much larger total that his Democrat rival got.

Nope, when Trump loses in 2020, IMO, there will be little violence, besides some Democratic campaign offices suffering vandalism, from a few of Trump's DUMBEST fans breaking windows, or defacing the buildings housing the offices, by spray painting 4 letter words on them.

Plus, no doubt, late on November 2020's election night, after the major TV networks have already announced Trump's obvious defeat, a number of Trumpie's will probably ride around in their pickup trucks, screaming choice lines out their windows, such as "Fuck the Liberal Cocksuckers!" But for 99.999% of Trump's followers, that's about as intense as their responses to Trump's election loss, will be getting.

Zoiper, I think you may be underestimating the violence that Trump supporters may be capable of. We've already seen a number of Trump supporters either get busted while , or actually And today, we have this:

Remember, all of this happened when Trump was in office and in power. Can you imagine how much worse it might get if he is removed? Even if he loses a legitimately run election, do you think the fringe element of his supporters are going to accept the results? These are people who because of Trump, have a complete mistrust in the government. These people believe that Trump is the honest, hard-working man fighting against the DC establishment. Can you imagine the level of brain-scramble a person has to have to sincerely believe this?

I think it's a mistake to assume they'll just slink back into their caves to lick their wounds. Sure, most of them will, but those aren't the ones we need to worry about. I'm doubtful that they'll be able to organize in large enough numbers to turn this into an open civil war, but I have no doubt that they'll attack certain people and organizations that they deem to be anti-Trump. I think we will see them commit guerilla warfare.

You're thinking to overtly. Hate crimes and murders are going to rise, imo this will happen regardless of the result. If they lose, they will adapt the "nothing to lose" mentality and start taking people out.

The only way out is for the extreme on both sides to finally understand it isn't about Race or orientation, it's rich Vs poor. the hate and divisiveness is a smokescreen to keep people distracted.
